(J.D. University of Tulsa, 1991) Karen is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and is currently the Oklahoma Chair for the American College State Committee. She has been defending health care providers for over thirty years.  She is also one of several members of the firm with a multi-state practice and has considerable experience trying cases involving catastrophic injury.  Karen is also a nationally recognized expert on medical staff issues, particularly with regard to credentialing.  Karen has acted as counsel for the medical staff in multiple fair hearings and has acted as a hearing officer for fair hearings.  She has presented countless seminars to healthcare systems throughout the country on credentialing and other medical staff matters.  She provides frequent lectures to residents through the Graduate Medical Education program at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine on various medical legal topics.  Karen is widely regarded in Oklahoma as an expert on peer review and patient morbidity and mortality review.  She has also published continuing legal education materials on the topics of defending medical malpractice cases and the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (“EMTALA”).
